The infloor radiant system makes every room warm and inviting. It can be installed directly in slab and basement floors, staple-up applications or topping pour for tile floors in bathrooms, kitchens and foyers.

Solid and malleable , never springs back, it enjoys a wide range of working temperature (-40 F ~+203 F).

The stay-in-place rigid feature of the tubing makes it ideal for hydronic heating and radiant floors.
The PEX layers protect against corrosion and creates a shield so the tubing can be embedded in concrete. The aluminum layer offers 100% oxygen diffusion and provides stiffness to hold the tubing in the desired shape. Together, the layers make up a flexible tubing that stays in place, won't discolor and has a low thermal expansion rate.

SUMMARY of ADVANTAGES

The inner and outer layers of composite multilayer FLEXALPEX are PEx; and its middle layer is aluminum combined with bonder. FLEXALPEX has most of the advantages of plastic pipe and metallic pipe. Its advantages are easy bending, anti-rust, non-corrosion, and acid resistance. It is widely used in the transportation of hot and cold water, beverages, gases, heating liquid or shipbuilding pipe.

Non-corrosion

FLEXALPEX 's inner and outer layers consist of silane method cross-linked polyethylene ( PEX ) At normal temperature, it does not dissolve in any known solutions and is resistant against acid, alkali and salt of various kinds.

Both materials offer perhaps the best chemical and corrosion resistance of any plastic used in the manufacture of plumbing pipes. The polyolefin family of plastics PEX is renowned for it's toughness, long working life and resistance to deterioration in the most extreme environments.

On the other hand, when metal or copper pipes are exposed to aggressive soil and water conditions, they are susceptible to corrosion and pitting.

Clean & Healthy

The entire
FLEXALPEX plumbing system is designed to provide you with the cleanest drinking water possible.

FLEXALPEX 's clean, non-corroding plastic interior is resistant to deterioration in aggressive water conditions. You needn't worry about odor, color or taste problems arising because of the plumbing pipes in your home.

And given FLEXALPEX built in permeation barrier, you have built in peace of mind that your buried water pipes will not be permeated by ground source contaminants.

Ease of  Installation

No more copper sticks, no more sweating joints every few feet. FLEXALPEX 's convenient, lightweight coils allow you to install a professional plumbing system quickly and efficiently. Installation crews are less fatigued and larger coils mean less wastage.

Need to make a bend ? Go ahead. Need to snake pipe around an obstruction ? There's nothing stopping you. When the system calls for a fitting, you simply cut, bevel, insert and crimp the pipe for secure, long-term connections. It's really that fast and simple.

MALLEABLE: Unlike garden variety PEX pipes that spring back upon bending , flexALPEX pipe is easy to bent  and its metallic inner core gives it the “memory” to stay bent

Go anywhere with FLEXALPEX

FLEXALPEX can be installed in walls and ceilings or surface mounted. It can be supported horizontally or vertically on 8 foot centers because its stiffness and expansion rate is similar to copper's. FLEXALPEX can be encased in concrete or buried underground without additional protection because its tough outer plastic layer resists chemicals and corrosive activity.

And FLEXALPEX 's aluminum core provides a 100% permeation barrier against oxygen diffusion in closed loop system.

Superior Flow

FLEXALPEX 's smooth inner plastic wall permanently resists scaling and mineral build-up, keeping water flow constant year after year. Unlike metal pipes, you won't see a reduction in flow area with FLEXALPEX . That means home owners can enjoy a constant water pressure throughout the house, throughout the years.

FLEXALPEX uses fewer fittings almost half the fittings used in a copper system. Fewer fitting joints means less chance of leakage and less liability.

It is not only designed for better long term flow rates, the inner plastic layer is non-corroding and won't pit, pinhole, or erode in aggressive water conditions.
FLEXALPEX is designed to provide years of trouble free performance in the toughest of conditions. Other pipes just don't compare.

Low Expansion and Contraction

FLEXALPEX 's aluminum core controls the amount of expansion and contraction in the pipe. In fact although FLEXALPEX looks like a plastic pipe its expansion rate is very similar to copper’s so you do not have to worry about building in costly and time consuming pipe offsets.

Excel PEX AL PEX 101

What is PEX AL PEX ?

PEX AL PEX is aluminum tubing with  coextruded cross-linked polyethylene layers on the inside and outside .  Through a special process  links between polyethylene macro-molecules are formed to create essentially one large molecule of polyethylene. This three-dimensional molecule is more resistant to temperature extremes, chemical attack and creep deformation which makes PEX ideal for use in hot water applications. Typical cross-linking levels in pipe are 65%- 89%. For more than three decades, PEX (or XLPE) has been used extensively in Europe for hot water heating and plumbing applications
.

What cross-linking method is used to make Excel PEX AL PEX ?
The PEX component of  Excel PEX AL PEX   is classified as Silane  method PEX.     This process uses HDPE resin with additives that react when the extruded pipe is exposed to heat and moisture. The chemical reaction stops when cross-linking reaches 70-80%. Even with further exposure, no additional reaction will take place.  Excel PEX AL PEX  is 100% tested to check the degree of cross-link before it leaves the production line.   The Silane method is a hot cross-linking process, meaning the cross-linking takes place during the extrusion (formation) process when the base polyethylene is above its crystal melting temperature. Silane  method PEX provides the most control over consistency and uniformity of cross-linking, meaning no weak links in the tubing

What approvals does Excel PEX AL PEX have?

Excel PEX AL PEX manufacturing belongs to a very  limited number of PEX tubing manufacturers that acquired a third party certification listing with NSF,  International for both chlorinated hot and cold potable water plumbing systems and chlorinated recirculating hot water plumbing loops. Excel PEX AL PEX is also third party listed for potable water plumbing use by: NSF International, IAPMO (International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials),  SKZ of Germany, WRAS of Great Britain and other International Independent labs.

What about code approvals? Is PEXALPEX  referenced in the plumbing codes?

Yes. Currently, PEX AL PEX manufactured to ASTM F1282/F1283  is listed in CSA B137.9,CSA B137.10 and the BOCA National Plumbing Code, the BOCA National Mechanical Code, the Standard Plumbing Code (SBCCI), the CABO One and Two Family Dwelling Code and the International Plumbing Code (IPC) for use in plumbing systems as well as many state and local codes.

What do the letters A, B and C mean when used to describe PEX and PEX AL PEX ?

The ABC letter designation system is used in Europe to identify the process by which a particular PEX tubing is cross-linked. It is NOT a grading system, but simply an identification system. PE-Xa is cross-linked with the peroxide method, PE-Xb is cross-linked with the silane method   and PE-Xc is cross-linked by electron beam irradiation.

Can I use Exc el PEX AL PEX in Hydronic Heating Systems?

Yes, Excel PEX AL PEX is perfectly suited for hydronic heating loops.  The PEX layers protect against corrosion and creates a shield so the tubing can be embedded in concrete.  The exclusive aluminum layer offers 100% oxygen diffusion and provides stiffness to hold the tubing in the desired shape. Together, the layers make up a flexible tubing that stays in place, won't discolor and has a  very low thermal expansion rate which means no stress crack formation on mortar surfaces.

Can I use Excel PEX AL PEX with other PEX fittings ?

Crimp and Screw Fittings used with other ½” PEX pipe are compatible with the flexALPEX system.

½” Size :    Nominal   12mm ID x  16mm OD    (0.475” ID x 0.625”  OD)

Note: Brass and metal crimp systems and screw systems are compatible.  Wirsbo's  ProPEX® Plastic Rings are not compatible as flexALPEX is much stronger than regular PEX.
